A mixture of happiness and sadness goes into this piece.
Happiness to see this rad new Junks video out as well as an official release on the horizon.
But sadness we’re informed a move to the, admittedly, more futuristic Shenzhen is on the cards for dynamic husband and wife duo David and Ursula. Hangzhou has a small, closely knit music scene and their departure will, without a shadow of a doubt, leave a void.
Thankfully though, with the power of the Internet, we can fill the aforementioned void with some rather tasty music. Get it down ya.
This sweet slice of synth pop is a neat encapsulation of the Junks formula which has seen them go from strength to strength on the local music scene before progressing quickly and confidently to playing some big festival slots, from Berlin to the Great Wall of China.
If you’re a fan of 80s revivalism with a contemporary twist then this is the group for you. If you can catch them in a live venue, then you’re in for both a sonic and visual treat.
One thing’s for sure, Hangzhou’s loss will certainly be Shenzhen’s gain.
This track is the first song off a new self-titled EP which will be released in September.
We’ll be reviewing this EP so stay in the loop by following us on Twitter.
Released through Modern Sky USA you can pre-order it by visiting Junks’ Bandcamp.
